LG launching three mysterious Windows phones soon, ten elusive others in 2010

lg-gw550-2

It’s cool LG — it’s not like we really need to know model names and BOMs for each of your new Windows phones. In fact, it’s completely kosher if you just tease us with launch dates and nothing more. It’s not like you’ve got any rivals out there already sharing a good deal more or anything. And hey, if it weren’t for that oh-so-informative blurb underneath the image in your press release, we wouldn’t even know that the already-launched GW550 would be amongst the first three WinMo 6.5-packin’ smartphones you’ve got on deck for an “imminent launch.” What precious little we do know is that in addition to that there GW550, the first volley of three will feature a full touchscreen device and a touch slider with full QWERTY — both form factors we’d fully expect represented in force for 6.5 — and they’ll be made available to “early adopters” in Europe, Asia, and the US before being introduced on a larger scale. But listen, we definitely appreciate you telling us that a grand total of 13 new Windows phones will be out and about by the end of 2010, and we’ll be patiently waiting for details on the whos, whats, whens and wheres. Toodeloo!

Video: crooks clean out New Jersey Apple store in 31 impressive seconds

apple-store-thives

And you thought making off with 39 iPods in 15 seconds was something to behold. After studying said crooks in Utah, a trained team of larcenists headed over to Apple’s Sagemore location in Marlton, New Jersey in order to one-up the duo by snagging even more goods in under a minute. As the surveillance shows, a single blunt object decimated the iconic glass doorway and enabled five hyped-up thieves to enter, snag 23 MacBook Pros, 14 iPhones and 9 iPod touches, and head for the hills — all in just 31 seconds. Look, we aren’t trying to glamorize crime or anything, but this is the stuff GTA heists are made of. Head on past the break for a look at the video, and please, don’t try to replicate this at your nearest Apple store (without wearing a head-mounted camcorder and hooking us up with the footage, of course).

Adesso’s AKB-440 keyboard gets integrated trackpad

adesso-akb-440-keyboard

Look, we’re not going to say that the famed keyboard-mouse tandem is going anywhere soon, but we will say that there are certainly occasions where having to use a separate critter is a real pain. For those times when having mousing abilities right on the keyboard just seem more “right,” there’s the Adesso AKB-440. Aimed directly at HTPC users and the like, this rather vanilla looking keyboard spruces things up with a GlidePoint-enabled pad that puts your standalone mouse out of work. If your imagination is running wild with how this thing could revolutionize your life (or at least improve the feasibility of a living room PC), feel free to snag one now for $59.99.

Sanyo’s Gorilla Lite PND packs 4GB in an thin frame

090902-sanyogorilla-01
Sanyo, a company best known among mid-80s McKean Elementary school students for the portable cassette recorder Henry Hutchinson used to incessantly play “Mr. Telephone Man” by New Edition (true story), seems to be going from strength to strength with its Gorilla line of handheld PNDs. The NV-LB50DT Gorilla Lite packs a 5-inch touchscreen, LED backlight, and 4GB SSD in a package a mere 18.8mm thin. The device also features a 1Seg digital TV tuner, an accelerometer for switching between landscape and portrait mode, support for MP4, JPEG, MP3, and WMA playback, and Sanyo ECO mode (which tells you if your driving style is good or bad for the environment). Sure, this isn’t the DVD playing, CD-ripping powerhorse that we last saw from the company, but you probably knew that as soon as you saw the word “Lite” in the name. Available soon for a price to be determined.

Get Windows 7 Ultimate for free… by throwing a party

9-02-09win7pcomp4

Dying to throw a party where everyone goes home alone? Microsoft’s got you covered. Redmond’s looking for Windows 7 fans to throw launch parties from October 22-29, and if you’re chosen, you’ll get a free “Signature Edition” of Windows 7 Ultimate, free party favors, and a chance to win a PC valued at $750. Sure, you’ll have to suck up your pride and invite your friends to a party with a theme like “setting up with ease” or “family friendly fun,” but if you’re willing to throw a party where everyone is apparently supposed to sit around a laptop and then go out and buy something, well, we’re guessing you don’t have too much pride to begin with.
