SIM only deals verses standard mobile contract deals
At one point of time, long before the arrival of SIM Only deals SIM free devices were limited to those with a lot of cash, or those people who were overtly technical – and the majority of people would usually buy a new mobile phone from one of the many big network providers, because they had the buying power, and the cost of the handset was subsidized for them, from the money incurred on the contract. But today, times have turned around, and now it is much easier to not get tied up in a contract (unless you will it so) thus you can get the device of your choice – totally SIM free. You would be surprised to know that I myself have been using SIM free mobile devices for as many as 3-4 years, and though it used to be expensive, the prices have really come down now.
Many people are under the impression that for the device you want, you have to pay big bucks – sometimes you do, but this rule is not applicable all the time, because the cost can often be subsidized by the savings on the contract. I could go on and on, on bargaining for a good deal and the various options open to you, but I won’t get into all that as it could get boring.
At Clove, most of us are on the cheap SIM only deals – are you wondering why this is so? Well, not only is it cheaper, but you don’t enter into contracts for 18-24 months, it’s just for all of 30 days. While most networks offer this, O2 is showing the way forward with the O2 Simplicity package.
For just 19.58 pounds, you will get 600 minutes, 1200 texts and unlimited data. You would be charged 35 pounds for this by most contracts – these amounts to an average of 40 pounds.
That basically means 480 pounds extra a year, on top of that you’re in a contract and perhaps have a free handset – but is it the one of your choice?
We suggest going SIM free – that way you not only save the money, but can invest in a device of your choice. Plus, if you would like a different SIM Card Only package, you can cancel your existing contract every 30 days. Plus, the thing is that if you switch handsets, you would get more money if they are not branded or locked by the network. Depending upon your level of proactiveness, you can get reasonably good deals.
